Zusammenfassung

Die Problematik, mit der sich die in den letzten Jahren sprunghaft ansteigende Herpes-simplex-Literatur beschäftigt, ist außerordentlich vielfältig: Im Rahmen der sexually transmitted diseases nimmt der Herpes genitalis einen stark zunehmenden Prozentsatz ein; in verschiedenen geographischen Lagen wird die Häufigkeit der Herpessepsis der Neugeborenen mit 1: 7000 angegeben; darüber hinaus werden ophthalmologische und neurologische Schäden bei Kindern auf abortive Herpesinfektionen im Neugeborenenalter zurückgeführt; wie bei anderen Viren der Herpesgruppe wird auch beim Herpes-simplex-Virus eine onkogene Potenz angenommen; die wesentliche Frage des Rezidivmechanismus konnte bisher nicht geklärt werden.
