Low Frequency Raman Scattering in Glasses

  • Chapter
Amorphous Solids

Part of the book series: Topics in Current Physics ((TCPHY,volume 24))

Abstract

The subject of this chapter is the inelastic scattering of light in glasses with frequency shifts smaller than about 1/5 of the Debye frequency. This field is commonly referred to as low-frequency Raman scattering in glasses. The term Raman scattering is used here for the whole spectrum of the scattered light with the exception only of the distinct Brillouin lines.
