April 1978 fand in Delft unter der Schirmherrschaft der „International Association for Hydraulic Research“ (IAHR) und der „Permanent International Association of Navigation Congress“ (PIANC) ein internationales Symposium über „Aspects of Navigability of Constraint Waterways, Including Harbour Entrances“ statt, ausgerichtet und vorbildlich organisiert durch das Delft Hydraulics Laboratory und das Netherlands Ship Model Basin.
