Abstract

The transport characteristics of a material are intimately related to the energy band structure and the nature of the collision processes. For the development of the theory of electron transport, therefore, the form of the energy bands and the scattering mechanisms are required to be known in detail. The characteristic features of the energy bands are, however, intimately related to the crystal structure. The common forms of the crystals of compound semiconductors are described in this chapter.
