171Yb and 1H NMR in Orthorhombic Ytterbium Dihydride

Abstract

The nuclear magnetic resonance of 171Yb and 1H have been studied at room temperature and at 77 K in orthorhombic ytterbium dihydride. Moreover, the magnetic susceptibility has been measured in the temperature range 4.2 - - 294 K. The results indicate that ytterbium ions are divalent in the studied hydride.
