Temperature Dependence of the Cubic Splitting in the EPR Spectrum of Gd3+ in PbF2 Crystals: — b4o as Function of Interionic Distance

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the b 4 o parameter of the cubic EPR spectrum of PbF2:Gd3+ single crystal has been investigated in the temperature range 4.2 – 673K. From 193K to 573K the b 4 o (T) is almost linear. The results are correlated with the changes of interionic distances due to the thermal expansion.
