Abstract

Integrative recombination is the process by which the genome of bacteriophage A is linearly inserted into the genome of its Escherichia coli bacterial host. This recombination has been, and continues to be, intensively studied from genetic, physiologic, and biochemical points of view. As a result there has been much progress in our understanding of the mechanism of this recombination, and this paper details several of these recent developments.
