Abstract

The steady increase in complete remission rates for patients with acute myeloblasts leukaemia which was achieved in the 1960’s with the advent of new cytotoxic agents has now reached a plateau. Major efforts have been devoted to attempts to prolong complete remission with immunotherapy, and several clinical trials using BCG as immunotherapy have shown encouraging results.
