Absorption of Water Vapour

Part of the Zoophysiology and Ecology book series (ZOOPHYSIOLOGY, volume 9)

One of the most intriguing aspects of water balance in land arthropods concerns the mechanisms by which water vapour is absorbed from unsaturated air. The process has been recognized for a long time, but an explanation in physiological terms is still lacking. Relevant reviews are those of Beament (1961, 1964, 1965), Locke (1964), and Noble-Nesbitt (1976).
