Excretion and Osmoregulation

Part of the Zoophysiology and Ecology book series (ZOOPHYSIOLOGY, volume 9)

In arthropods as in most other animals, excretion of waste or potentially toxic materials is carried out by organs that are also involved in osmotic and ionic regulation, and it is, therefore, convenient to consider these processes together. However, we shall treat nitrogen elimination separately because this is a general problem for all arthropods and one which stands somewhat apart from other aspects of water balance.
