Index Tumors of the Buccal Cavity and Pharynx

Population studied. A total of 5,777 patients with a primary malignant tumor of the buccal cavity or pharynx were followed for the subsequent development of independent primary malignant neoplasms; 491 such subsequent neoplasms were discovered. 81.3% of the patients with cancer of the buccal cavity and pharynx were male. This cohort of individuals contributed approximately 24,130 person-years of observation.
