Abstract

As the mixture of BCG and irradiated tumour cells had been shown to be more effective than either one or the other administered alone (MATHE, 1968; MATHE et al., 1969), it was tempting, in the case of a perceptible tumour, to inject BCG or another adjuvant into the neoplasia. This was tried on human tumours by MORTON et al. (1970a, 1970b), and on experimental models by ZBAR, RAPP and co-workers (ZBAR and TANAKA, 1971; ZBAR, 1972; ZBAR et al., 1972; RAPP, 1973; ZBAR et al., 1973).
