Abstract

In this chapter we shall consider the stability of flow between concentric rotating cylinders. In the idealized problem the cylinders are infinitely long and rotate about their common axis with constant angular velocities Ω1 at r = a and Ω2 at r = b(b > a). The motion of the fluid satisfies the Navier-Stokes equations between the cylinder and the adherence condition at the cylinder walls.
