Abstract
Infectious pulmonary complications represent a major cause of death in immuno-suppressed patients. Viruses have been frequently isolated from such patients. Table 1 lists the major various types of viruses that have been found. Herpes viruses are the most common agents. This group includes a) cytomegaloviruses (CMV) which have been repeatedly isolated from the lungs and from many tissues in patients under immunosuppressive therapy: b) Herpes zoster viruses which are responsible for varicella and zoster infections, and c) Herpes hominis.
