Zusammenfassung
Fehlleitung und Unterbrechung der Entwicklung sind wohl die eindrucksvollsten somatischen Strahleneffekte. Mit einem Minimum an Energie wird ein Maximum an Wirkung erzeugt. In zweifacherHinsicht interessiert den Mediziner und Forscher die Wirkung energiereicher Strahlen auf das heranwachsende Lebewesen, nämlich zum ersten, um im Experiment Aufschlüsse über noch unbekannte Entwicklungs- und Differenzierungserscheinungen zu gewinnen und zum zweiten, um die Strahlengefährdung des Menschen besonders durch kleine Dosen richtig beurteilen zu können. Sämtliche heranwachsenden Lebewesen, die untersucht wurden, seien sie nun Wirbellose oder Säugetiere, zeichnen sich durch ihre besondere Strahlensensibilität aus. Die Diskrepanz in der Strahlensensibilität adulter und jugendlicher Formen zeigt sich besonders drastisch bei den Insekten, indem die Letaldosis für adulte Taufliegen beispielsweise 500mal größer sein kann als diejenige für gewisse Embryonalstadien.
