Abstract
Since 1957, the World Health Organization has been involved in a programme aimed at developing a uniform, internationally acceptable morphological classification of tumours, which would facilitate communications between those engaged in studies on cancer.
This article is based on a paper that was published in Meth. Inform. Med., 1971, 10, 120–122 and appears by kind permission of the editor of that journal.
