Summary
In ovaries of rats the alterations of enzyme activities between the 5th and 60th day of life were studied by quantitative biochemical analysis in tissue extract. Furthermore oxydoreductases were localized by means of histochemical technique. The activities of enzymes of the aerobic glycolysis per g fresh weight increase continually while the activities of lactic dehydrogenase and enzymes of the citric acid cycle are slightly decreasing. The activity of NADPH-supplying glucose-6-phosphat dehydrogenase shows a striking rise between the 5th and 15th resp. 45th and 60th day of life. The increase of activities in the development of the infantile ovary and differentiation of the interstitial cells are coincident with the first maximum of LH-production.
