Summary
After treatment with the anti-androgen cyproterone-acetate (30 mg d.) oligoor cryptospermia occured in 5 normal men after 7 1/2–15 1/2 weeks. Fructose in sperm plasma and total gonadotrophins decreased. The number of spermatozoa was within normal range 4–5 months after discontinuing therapy. The inhibition of spermatogenesis is explained by the anti-androgenic effect of CA and the depression of the gonadotrophins. In one case norethisterone-enanthate reduced the number of spermatozoa, too. Gestonorone-capronate had no effect on the gonadotrophins and spermatogenesis in one patient.
