Abstract

Fluxes of ions acros the plasma membrane are associated with the signal transduction of different intra- and extracellular stimuli such as the plant hormones auxin, abscisic acid and gibberellins. In these plant hormone signal transduction processes ion channels are involved. To be able to understand the significance and role of ion channels in plant hormone signal transduction an inventory and characterization of the plasma membrane ion channels in the plant cell of interest should be carried out.
