Electronic and Vibrational Dephasing in Solution by Dynamic Symmetry Breaking

Abstract

A new type of Raman dephasing due to interconversion between two symmetrically related structures is described. The line is broadened by fluctuations not in the vibrational frequency but in the sign of the Raman polarizability.
