Abstract
In order to understand concentration changes in compartments and transfer of molecules from one phase (compartment) to another, it is necessary to define these compartments and the processes involved:
-
Phase or compartment: Unit of space in which molecules have a defined state of freedom (or non-freedom) of movement and reaction.
-
Processes: Reactions between molecules and transfer of molecules inside or between compartments.
-
Equilibria: Reactions and transfer processes being counterbalanced by feedback processes.
