Abstract
An analytical model of the Biogas Tower Reaktor, a new type of reactor for anaerobic waste water treatment, is developed based on biochemical and hydrodynamical knowledge. After a brief description of the reactor the modelling assumptions and the model structure are explained. The model is made up of 4 nonlinear and strongly coupled subsystems. The mathematical model has been programmed in Matlab/Simulink. With the object-oriented visual programming of this tool it was possible to adopt the structure of the model directly. In order to fit simulation data to experimental data, a parameter estimation has been performed. The correspondence of the simulated data and the experimental data was eventually reached with values of the physical, chemical and biological parameters that are still in the range of the parameters reported in literature.
