Zusammenfassung
Die Schädelsonographie ist zu einer leicht durchzuführenden Routineuntersuchung auf jeder Neuund Frühgeborenenintensivstation geworden. Bis zum Zeitpunkt des Verschlusses der großen Fontanelle mit ca. 1 Jahr kann sie auch bei Säuglingen problemlos durchgeführt werden. Ausgeführt durch einen geübten Untersucher erspart die allzeit verfügbare Ultraschalluntersuchung des Schädels den jungen Kindern oft die strahlenbelastende Computertomographie oder die noch immer technisch und zeitlich aufwendige Magnetresonanztomographie.
