Abstract

As a science, toxicology defines the interaction between chemical and/or physical agents and the consequences of the alterations to living tissues, cells, and intact organisms. Another purpose for the study of these biological consequences is to delineate and understand the risk to humans and animals from exposure, either intentionally or accidentally, and to prevent the consequences of that biological-agent interaction.
