Zusammenfassung
Standards sind eine notwendige, wenn auch selbstverständlich keine hinreichende Bedingung für die erfolgreiche Diffusion von Telekommunikationsdiensten. Denn nur auf der Basis gesicherter technischer Kompatibilität können Diensteangebote realisiert werden. Darüber hinaus bietet standardisierte Technik weitere Vorzüge, wie Größen- und Preisvorteile, die die Dienstediffusion erheblich erleichtern können. Die Bedeutsamkeit von Standards soll Anlaß sein, im Folgenden den Prozeß der Telekommunikationsstandardisierung näher zu erörtern.
