Abstract

Examples of plant cell morphogenesis well known to the botanist are the rise of cellular polarity in the fucacean zygote, localized tip growth of protonemata and rhizoids of mosses and ferns, or of pollen tubes and root hairs in the higher plant. Likewise established are cases of bizarre pattern formation in the Acetabularia or Micrasterias cell.
