Abstract
Active vibration control of a typical automobile chassis is investigated. The system consists of a chassis, an engine, and an engine mount on each side. The engine mount is a standard rubber mount with a reaction-mass actuator (RMA) built-in. Two system configurations are considered: one with RMAs attached to the engine and the other is with RMAs fixed to the chassis. The goal is to reduce the overall vibrations of the chassis. The variables considered for vibration reduction are the displacements of the chassis where the engine mounts locate. The results show that the system with RMAs attached to the engine is the better design. This system has lower resonant peaks and control force.
