Abstract
Recently, the structural optimization has became common tool for designers. Using the structural optimization packages that are available on the market, the designer can get an optimal structure for certain objective function and constraints without considering what is happening inside the package. However, one big problem of structural optimization is that the optimized structure is quite sensitive, and often very frail against uncertainty or imperfection. It can be sometimes observed that the optimal design under certain load perform very poorly when other loading is applied, or some imperfection is introduced.
