Abstract

Before a new marker system can be introduced in forensic casework, a population database for the relevant population must be established for statistical evaluation of forensic evidence. In conformity with this guideline, the allele and genotype frequencies of 6 different PCR-systems (HLA-DQA1, LDLR, GYPA, HBGG, D7S8 and GC) were determined fora Basque Country resident population sample of 212 unrelated individuals (Tables 1–6). The power of discrimination (PD) values calculated for these genetic markers are given in Table 7.
