Abstract
A number of studies suggest that in childhood the indoor allergen exposure, i.e., concentration of allergens and time course of exposure, are significant determinants for the development of specific sensitizations and the development of atopic disease in genetically predisposed infants. There is evidence that there is a dose-response relationship between mite allergen exposure and specific sensitization in atopic children [1]. A retrospective study performed in England reported a correlation between house dust mite allergen exposure in households of atopic infants in the first year of life and onset of wheezing [2].
