Zusammenfassung

Viele immunsuppressive Substanzen und Methoden sind seit den sechziger Jahren entwickelt und in der klinischen Transplantationsmedizin angewendet worden (1). In den frühen sechziger Jahren wurde die Behandlung mit Steroiden und Azathioprin zur Prophylaxe der Abstoßungsreaktion eingeführt und diese Therapie galt lange Zeit als Standardtherapie. In den achtziger Jahren wurde dann Cyclosporin A und auch OKT3 mit sehr gutem Erfolg eingesetzt. Neue potentere Pharmaka, wie z.B. FK506, sind kürzlich ebenfalls klinisch eingesetzt worden oder stehen in klinischer Erprobungsphase (z.B. Rapamycin). In diesem Kapitel soll ein Überblick über die bei der Transplantation eingesetzten Immunsuppressiva und deren Wirkungsmechanismus gegeben werden. Die pharmakologischen Aspekte und die therapeutische Anwendung werden in späteren Kapiteln erläutert.
