Abstract
Multiple myeloma is a malignancy of plasma cells. Patients with myeloma have associated immune deficiencies, including decreased numbers of B cells in the peripheral blood and corresponding decreased humoral responses. Myeloma patients also show significant alterations in T cell function. There are decreased numbers of CD4+ T cells while CD8+ T cells are normal to slightly increased [1,2].
