Abstract
Spiral computed tomography (CT) allows for complete examination of the lungs within one breathhold. A continuous data acquisition eliminates discontinuities of the examined volume due to inconstant inspiration depth that otherwise lead to missing of small lesions. To fully utilize the advatages of spiral CT, however, a considerably larger number of (overlapping) images has to be evaluated than in standard CT. On the monitor display, these axial images can be reviewed in an interactive cine mode. We examined properties of maximum (MIP) and minimum (mIP) intensity projections as film display modalities for evaluation of spiral CT data of the chest.
