Zusammenfassung
Aufgabe der „äußeren“Atmung ist es, über die Luftwege und die Lungen die Körperzellen mit Sauerstoff zu versorgen und das beim Stoffwechsel (innere Atmung) anfallende Kohlendioxid wieder abzugeben. Der Atemzyklus besteht aus der Einatmung (Inspiration) und der Ausatmung (Exspiration).
