Abstract
Nearly all human renal cell carcinomas (RCC) are found to be encapsuled [3], Histological assessment using conventional staining techniques such as hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) reveals a capsule surrounding the tumor which might act as a barrier between normal and malignant tissue. However, the exact origin and function of this capsule is unknown. In 1925 Lubarsch was the first to describe renal tumors exhibiting tumor capsules [7]. He called this tissue structure a pseudocapsule. Up to now investigations concerning this tissue phenomenon have been very rare.
