Zusammenfassung

In den ersten Stellungnahmen zu psychiatrischen Auffälligkeiten bei HIV-Infizierten bzw. Aids-Patienten wurde vor allem die reaktive Komponente betont. Depressive Reaktionen auf die Nachricht der HIV-Positivität, der Umgang mit einer lebensbedrohlichen Krankheit, Unsicherheiten über die Prognose, gesellschaftliche Diskriminierung und Schuldgefühle wurden als mit der HIV-Infektion zusammenhängende Probleme beschrieben [12]. Im Laufe der Zeit, ausgehend von der Beobachtung häufiger cerebraler Sekundärinfektionen, von der Entdeckung des Neu-rotropismus des HI-Virus und der Beschreibung zahlreicher neurologischer Komplikationen, wurden in zunehmendem Maße organisch begründbare Störungen beobachtet [14].
