Abstract
The Multicenter Hemophilia Cohort Study (MHCS) is a multidisciplinary prospective cohort study of the natural history of persons with hemophilia and related coagulation disorders. Our primary objectives at the U. S. National Cancer Institute are to characterize and quantify risk factors for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, hepatitis B and C (HBV and HCV) infections, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), cancer, and other diseases. We also encourage and support others in studying issues relevant to AIDS and other diseases, sexual behavior and education, immunology, and general aspects of coagulation, hemophilia, and its complications.
