Dyspeptische Symptome sind vieldeutig. Aufgrund der Anamnese kann oft nicht zwischen organischen Krankheiten (z. B. Ulcus duodeni oder Magenkarzinom) und „funktionellen“ Störungen (z. B. Motilitätsstörungen) unterschieden werden.
