Abstract

Pasture grass is the natural food for herbivorous domestic animals and the single most important crop in temperate regions in terms of land area. Much of this is natural grassland but the Festueeae tribe, which includes the Festuca-Lolium complex, contains most important grasses sown in cultivated grassland and for amenity use (Table 1).
