Zusammenfassung
Die Ergebnisse der Framingham-Studie und andere konnten eindeutig zeigen, daß die linksventrikuläre Hypertrophie (LVH) einen bedeutenden und unabhängigen Risikofaktor für die kardiovaskuläre Morbidität und Mortalität darstellt [5, 17, 22]. Das Risiko eines akuten Myokardinfarkts, einer kongestiven Kardiomyopathie, eines plötzlichen Herztodes und anderer kardiovaskulärer Ereignisse ist bei dem gleichzeitigen Vorhandensein einer linksventrikulären Hypertrophie sechs- bis achtfach erhöht [21].
