Abstract

In recent years, techniques for direct display of three-dimensional (3D) gray level data from stacks of two-dimensional tomographic images have been developed. For clinical applications, it is important to ask whether the resulting images really show the “truth”. This paper presents a simulation-based method which allows to measure and visualize the effects of different parameters and processing algorithms on the quality of 3D-imaging. First results demonstrate its usefulness for quality assurance.
