Zusammenfassung
Mit der Ausbreitung der HIV-Infektion kommt das medizinische Personal auch außerhalb von AIDS-Zentren immer öfter in Kontakt mit dieser Patientengruppe.
Damit steigt auch die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines akzidentellen HIV-Kontaktes. Das Risiko, in einem medizinischen Beruf eine HIV-Infektion zu erwerben, ist zwar sehr klein (in Zentren für die Versorgung verschiedener HIV-Erkrankungsstadien 0, 31–0, 42% [1, 2, 14], in Krankenhäusern mit niedriger Anzahl HIV-positiver Patienten ist das Infektionsrisiko wesentlich niedriger [15, 16]), jedochwie mit bisher 28 dokumentierten Fällen belegt — nicht wegzuleugnen.
