Vorgehensmodelle stellen ein hilfreiches Instrumentarium für die Gestaltung des Software-Entwicklungsprozesses dar. Die Planung der einzelnen Aktivitäten wird durch ihre Verwendung stark vereinfacht, und die Projektabwicklung wird standardisiert und dadurch beherrschbarer.
