DC-SQUIDs Fabricated with Nb/Al-oxide/Nb Tunnel Junctions

Abstract

We have fabricated a planar type dc SQUID which incorporates high quality Nb/Al-oxide/Nb Josephson junctions prepared by rf sputtering and SNAP method. DC SQUIDs were designed to have double transformer structure for inductance matching. Preliminary tests showed that our non-optimized SQUIDs had equivalent flux noise φ n of \(6\mu {\phi _0}/\sqrt {Hz} \), corresponding to intrinsic energy sensivity ɛ= 5.9×10−31 J/Hz in the flux-locked loop mode.
