Behandlung der senilen Makuladegeneration mit Rökan

Zusammenfassung

Die Makuladegeneration ist eine häufige Ursache für den Verlust des Sehvermögens. Die Genese scheint multifaktoriell bedingt. An 20 Patienten wurde in einer placebokontrollierten Doppelblindstudie die Wirksamkeit von Ginkgo biloba-Extrakt 761 (Rökan) untersucht. Beurteilungsparameter war der Fern- und Nah-Visus. Schon bei diesem relativ kleinen Stichprobenumfang war die Verbesserung der Sehschärfe in der Rökan-Gruppe statistisch signifikant. Diskutiert werden die verschiedenen zugrunde liegenden pathogenetischen Mechanismen der Makuladegeneration. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die Rolle freier Radikale gerichtet.
