Vibrational Relaxation of IR-Laser-Excited SF6 and SiF4 Molecules Studied by CARS

The report provides a description of a series of experiments devoted to CARS spectroscopy of CO2-laser-excited SF6. and SiF4 molecules. The pump-laser induced vibrational distriBution and its temporal evolution has been studied. Special attention was paid to the investigation of the channels of vibrational energy redistribution among both low-lying discrete and high-lying quasicontinuum states and to the measurements of respective rates.
