Abstract
“The measurement of performance is necessary to evaluate Information Retrieval systems” [Los 91] seems to be a generally accepted opinion in the Information Retrieval (IR) community. An important factor of whether a user is able to benefit from using an IR system is the effectiveness of the retrieval method implemented in the system.
