Abstract
In his daily contact with patients the general practitioner constantly finds himself face to face with this dilemma: On the one hand, he has learnt to see his task in interpreting objective findings, for which a broad palette of scientific methodology and apparatus are at his disposal; on the other, he is all too often bound to admit that this kind of diagnostic procedure provides no satisfactory answer to the patient’s complaint.
