Abstract

Before the introduction of advanced imaging methods it was barely possible to visualize the orbit and its contents, such as the eyeball, muscles, vessels, optic nerve, and optic chiasm [37]. Conventional plain radiography is helpful in detecting traumatic orbital lesions and in visualizing bony structures, but often fails to identify tumors or inflammatory processes and their extension to neighboring structures [22].
