Der Osteoblast gehört zu einer der 4 Zellengruppen, die die normale Funktion des Knochens sichern helfen. Der Osteoblast ist für die Bildung neuer Knochensubstanz verantwortlich, sein Kontrahent, der Osteoklast, baut Knochensubstanz ab Osteozyt und Liningzelle sorgen für Stabilität und Funktion sowohl des Mineralspeichers als auch des Strukturelementes Knochen.
